The Bimbetka Rock shelter is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located in Raisen District in Madhya Pradesh. They are the single evidence of earliest human inhabitance in India. Some of these shelters are inhibited by man even before 100,000 years. The Rock paintings found in Bimbetka shelters are 9000 years old. The Stone Age excavations and cave paintings discovered in Bimbetka are believed to be from the Masolithic period. People from all parts of the world visit Bimbetka to see and experience this wonderful group of shelters. Bimbetka shelters are similar to that excavators have found in France and Spain. Similar rock paintings are found in Australia too. The paintings depict the life of people in early age, including childbirth, communal dances, drinking, rituals, burial and natural environment around them.

It is a valuable treasure; Bimbetka is just 45kms south of Bhopal and is accessible by air, rail and road. There are plenty of hotels and resorts in the surrounding for tourists and excavation enthusiasts can stay and study Bimbetka.

Ujjain is one of the oldest towns in the whole of India. This is the reason this land is known in different names over the year. Ujjain is a land of rich heritage. The main names of this holy land are, Ujjayini, Avanti, Avantikapuri etc. Ujjain is located in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain was considered the first meridian longitude for Hindu geographers since 4the century BC. Ujjain is mentioned in the great epic Mahabharata, at that time the land was called Avanti Kingdom. Ujjain is one of the seven holy cities for Hindus. The famous festival Kumbh Mela is celebrated here once in 12 years. The earliest mention of Ujjain was made by Buddha in 4th Century BC, when it was known by the name Avanti Kingdom. The place was also famous for being the residence of the great emperor Ashoka the great. In the post Mouryan period the land came under Sungas, the Satavahanas and the Ror Sakas. Finally it came under the territory of Gupta dynasty. Ujjain was the capital of Chandragupta II or Vikramaditya of Gupta dynasty. The major annals and important literatures are written in this city. By 6th and 7th century Ujjain reached the pinnacle of glory. It was the major center of mathematical and astronomical research.

Today the city has several ancient monuments such as, Mahakal temple, the Chintaman Ganesh temple, Siddha Ashram, The Kaliyadeh Palace, Bhrathari caves, Vedha Shala (observatory), ISKCON temple etc.

Ujjain is assessable destination for tourists. The Devi Ahlyabai Holkar airport in Indore is the nearest airport and is just 55 km away from Ujjain. Ujjain has a railway station with good rail network. The city also has plenty of hotels and resorts which will be filled with tourists and devotees for pilgrimage during the Kumbh Mela seasons.

Gwalior is one of the Indian cities which has a very ancient past and has witnessed many king’s reigns. The city has changed itself with time and has now evolved into a modern city. The history of Gwalior traces back to a legend. A chieftain called Suraj Sen in 8 AD was sick with a disease. He was cured by a saint called Gwalipa who saved his life. So the chieftain built the city in the Saint’s honour. The city later became the hotspot for many Rajput dynasties. Gwalior is very famous for its rich culture and tradition. Many palaces, temples and museums can be explored in Gwalior. The rich tradition and the priceless monuments are still preserved in Gwalior.

God dwells in the hearts of the people. So does Khajuraho, where the gods dwells in the heart of the country- Madhya Pradesh. There cannot be any better place for them to stay than in the beautiful and architectural wonder Khajuraho

Khajuraho is located in Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh. People from all parts of the world come here to see this marvel. Khajuraho stands tall high in the sky like a poem written in stone. Khajuraho which is commonly called as the ‘temple city’ is a UNESCO world heritage site. This jewel should be preserved for the coming generation because out of the 85 beautiful temples today only the 22 of them have survived in the battle of time. It is an embodiment of temple architectural style. The images of god, goddesses, maiden, animal, dancers and musicians are carved in stone

To Reach Khajuraho there are several options, the city is linked with Delhi, Agra, Varanasi and Kathmandu by air. The nearest railway station is Mahoba and Harpalpur. People travelling from Mumbai can use Jhansi as their pit stop. Khajuraho is also well connected by road to major cities, with decent accommodation facilities.

Maheshwar is about 90kms from Indore and on situated on the banks of the River Narmada. Its earlier name is supposed to have been Mahishmati.

The seat of the famous queen, Ahilyabai Holkar who ruled the town between 1760 and 1795, the fortress here is unique in more ways than one.

Besides being the palace of the royal family, part of the fort has been transformed into a luxury heritage hotel which has found special mention in magazines like Tatler. The Maratha architecture adds that stature to the structure while modern amenities make it comfortable for the discerning tourist. A royal course is what greets the palate and it only gets better when the venue is the magnificent ramparts overlooking the river.

The complex also has many temples, a handloom emporium and, of course, the wide banks leading up to the river. A resort belonging to the MPTDC, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, is also a good accommodation option in Maheshwar.

Panchmarhi, locally known as ‘Satpura ki Rani’ is a beautiful hill station in Madhya Pradesh located at the rolling hills of the Satpura Range.
Five ancient caves sculpted out of a low hillock are known as the Pandav Caves Panchmarhi In India. The name Pachmarhi itself is derived from these Panch- Marhi (five caves or huts) believed to be the abode of the Pandava brothers from the epic ‘Mahabharata’.

Panchmarhi commands significant tourist attention. The Pandav Caves Panchmarhi is an important tourist landmark in Panchmarhi.

Omkareshwar is one of the most profoundly honored destinations in Madhya Pradesh. The holy place and the temple place of Omkareshwar holds the 24 avatars. These are a group of Hindu and Jain temples, beautifully designed and built with unique styles of architecture. The temples of the 24 Avatars in Omkareshwar are a remarkable site because the architecture of each temple is different from the rest, and exclusive styles are used which makes the 24 avatars a major tourist attraction of Omkareshwar.

The Omkareshwar Mahadeo Temple enshrines one of the twelve Jyotirlingams in the country. Since a particular variety of soft stone has been used in the construction of the temple, it has been possible to carve intricate designs in the front portion of the temple.

Ujjain is most famous for the Holy Kumbh Mela that is held here once every twelve years. It is a month-long fair attended by thousands of Hindu devotees. The festival is celebrated on the banks of River Shipra which is considered a very sacred river.

Kumbh Mela is held at places like Haridwar, Nasik, Prayag and Ujjain at different times. During the fair, the city is crowded by overwhelming number of pilgrims and sadhus.

Majestically slow and soothingly decorated elephants tread the fair ground adding extra flavour of spirituality to the town.

A Visit to Ujjain during Kumbh Mela is really an experience of divinity.

Bhopal the capital city of the state boasts of an archaeological wealth and it is one of the most beautiful historical cities in India.

The name of the city is reportedly derived from Raja Bhoj who created the surrounding lakes by building a dam or pal. Hence, the city was originally called Bhojpal. Over a period of time, this was shortened to its present name, Bhopal.

The most prominent mosque in Bhopal is Taj-ul-Masjid.

The architecture of the city is an amalgam of both Islamic and Hindu styles, with the odd European-style monument thrown in as well.
